Advisory Message has been issued by the LASD - Palmdale Station, Los Angeles
County Sheriff.

Thursday December 23, 2010 11:28 AM PST

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST ROADS CLOSED DUE TO STORM ACTIVITY WILL RE-OPEN TO
TRAFFIC AROUND 4:00PM

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has announced the re-opening
of Angeles Forest Hwy from Aliso Canyon Road to Angeles Crest Highway, Big
Tujunga Canyon Road from the Los Angeles City Line to Angeles Forest Highway,
and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to Angeles Crest
Highway to traffic.

The roads will reopen, Today, December 23, 2010, by 4:00pm.

Although Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has allowed the reopening
of these roads, drivers should anticipate intermittent delays as Public Works
completes the cleanup work.. This cleanup work may take as long as the next
month to complete. It is also important to note that Angeles Forest Highway,
south of Big Tujunga Canyon Road leads to a dead-end at Angeles Crest Highway
(SR-2). SR-2 is closed from the Angeles National Forest Boundary north of La
Cañada Flintridge to Mt. Wilson Road due to ongoing repair work.. Motorist can
access Mt. Wilson, Newcomb’s Ranch, and Mt. Waterman via Upper Big Tujunga
Canyon Road and SR-2. SR-2 is open from Mt. Wilson Rd to Islip Saddle at the
junction of SR-2 and SR-39.

Drivers and residents who live on private property in the forest are also
advised that due to the possibility of storm season debris flows, the roads will
again be closed to all traffic when moderate to heavy rainfall is predicted or
is falling in the area. The roads will remain closed until the storm threat has
passed and Public Works road crews have completed safety inspections and
necessary repairs.

While the roads have been re-opened, the Angeles National Forest itself remains
closed to the public. Parking along forest roads is not permitted and parked
vehicles will be subject to citation and towing.

For updates on these and other road closures and openings, motorists can visit
the Coordinated Agency Recovery Effort (C.A.R.E.) website at www.dpwcare.org.

For updates on Angeles Crest Highway, call Caltrans at (213) 897-3656, or visit
www.dot.ca.gov/dist07.

Residents, business owners including persons with access and functional needs
may also call 2-1-1 for LA County information and referral services regarding
post disaster resources that are available to those affected by the floods and
debris and mud flow. The toll-free 2-1-1 number is available 24 hours a day and
seven days a week. 211 LA County Services can also be accessed by visiting
www.211la.org.
